Now there is a dream situation... being able to vacation where you want and make a decent income in the process. I wonder how many times that thought crosses peoples' mind while staring up out of their cubicle. Glancing at calendars that have pictures of exotic places from around the world would make you ponder how you could travel there let alone to be able to afford to make the trip.
Being a home-based Travel Agent is one way to go on those all-inclusive vacations and cruises for pennies on the dollar. Weeks and months of planning, not only where you want to go, but how you were going to financially pull it off. Wouldn't it be nice if one could plan the "trip of their lifetime" and be able to get that trip at a huge discounted rate? Travel agents do, because a whole new world is opened up once you get certified.
Travel agents go on unbelievable trips and pay minimal charge to enjoy destinations that most people only dream about. The list of places from Bali, Hawaii, Australia, Europe, anyplace you can think of are being traveled to by agents. The reason is that the major carriers such as airlines, cruises and hotels give out what they call "Fam Trips" which is short for familiarization trips. If an agent is going to tell and sell people on destinations and certain carriers they need to be familiar with what they are selling.
When agents go on these Fam Trips they are treated exactly like a full paying customer. For example, on a cruise they stay in the same staterooms, eat at the same restaurants, etc... The only difference is that some time during the trip they are "trained" by the carrier on other amenities that are offered and other upgrades that are available on their specific cruise line. Most of the time these upgrades are not even advertised. Knowing these upgrades is a great position to be in when planning your trip or selling to your clients. When you access the key players in the travel industry you position yourself not only save a ton of money but are able to upgrade your trip for you or your clients when they become available.
Travel is a multi-TRILLION dollar industry and being able to access the key players in the industry directly is a key component to go where you want to travel and not break the bank in the process. There is a little bit of work involved in setting yourself up but the rewards are many.
