Attending a French cooking institution is just the ideal thing to do for any up-and-coming cook preparing superlative roux, demi-glace, bouillabaisse, or remoulade.
French cuisine, which denotes "kitchen" in the French language, has drawn chefs from practically every country.
Do you recall Julia Child? She is not with us right now, but just like her strange, drawling accent, her French cuisine was memorable. She studied at the French culinary arts institution, Le Cordon Bleu, meaning blue ribbon, situated in Paris. In the course of time she established her very own French cooking institution in her residence - the renowned L'Ecole des Trois Gourmandes, which means School of the Three Gourmands.
It is unfortunate that Julia Child is not with us to instruct in her profession, but there a number of French cooking institutions to choose from on both sides of the Atlantic. In case, Paris is far too expensive for you, then you can opt for any of the countless French cooking institutions in North America. You can even opt for a school within New York City!

Most of the schools in New York, such as the well-known French Culinary Institute, organize open houses in autumn. Every French cooking institution persuades students keen on joining to examine its set of courses and the specializations offered. Right from soups to sauces, pastries and bread to cakes, to wine enjoyment, a French cooking institution exists inside New York City that caters to every taste.
Are you keen on betting? In that case, Nevada, which has a plethora of casinos, has a French cooking institution in Las Vegas. It is the celebrated Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, set up in 2003. The institution offers combined modules of contemporary American cuisine and traditional French cooking styles.
Students interested in the preparation of gastronomic delights will discover French cooking institutions across Canada. The famous Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, situated on the western coastline, has diploma programs.
Modules offered by French cooking institutions may cover a number of semesters or short weekly sessions. Modeled on the lines of the French cooking institution in Provence, in Italy, it recreates the mood and setting of ancient Italy in a quaint farmhouse, where students soak up the atmosphere for five days, while taking their lessons.
Actually, many travel agencies highlight French cooking institution modules in their tour schedules. For instance, Gutsy Women Travel offers an arrangement that consists of spending an afternoon being trained in French cuisine by cooks in the distinguished area of Quebec City.
However, if you are not restrained by monetary matters when selecting the French cooking institutions, then you can go all the way and pass time in the seventeenth century manor house. Situated in the Burgundy province, to the south of Paris, Cheteau du Fe is the residence of Anne Willan, a writer and a chef par excellence. This French cooking institution embraces everything from savoring wines, vineyard sightseeing trips, and marketing for fresh food products. In addition, students are trained to prepare the classic French recipes such as chocolate souffle roulade.
This then is a French culinary arts institution that students find irresistible.

Many people in other countries think German food is mostly about red meat, roasted or otherwise simply cooked. While it is true that Germany cuisine does include many beef, pork and game (wild board, rabbit and venison) dishes, as well as a vast variety of different sausages, there is also more to German food than red meat.
Some popular German dishes and recipes include:
* Schwenker - Pork steaks, grilled with onions and spices.

* Blood sausage (German: Blutwurst) - A sausage made from meat, blood and barley (similar to English "black pudding"). In the Rhineland it is traditionally made using horse meat. Pickled pig's tongue may also be added (this is known as "zungenwurst")
* Frankfurter sausage - A smoked pork sausage, similar but not identical to the American "frankfurter".
* Sauerkraut - Cabbage finely sliced and then fermented. It can be eaten hot or cold, and is also used as a relish and as an ingredient in other dishes.
* Spatzle - German noodles made from flour, eggs and salt. It is eaten as a side dish, and used as an ingredient in other dishes, such "Linsen, spätzle und saitenw¨rstle" (with lentils and frankfurter sausages), "Kässpätzle" (fried or baked with grated cheese and onions), or "Krautspätzle" (with sauerkraut, onions and butter).
* Gaisburger marsch - Beef and potato stew, containing spätzle, and topped with fried onions in butter.
* Hasenpfeffer - A rabbit stew flavored with vinegar or wine.
* Labskaus - Corned beef boiled in broth with potatoes, onions, beetroot and herring or ham, and then fried in lard. Labskaus is traditionally served with rollmaps (pickled herring fillets).
* Saumagen - Spiced beef or pork with carrots and onions, cooked in a pig's stomach (similar to Scottish haggis).

If one was to ask about Argentinean food then they would be told that Argentina is the home of the chimichurri recipe. There are some places around the world that are noted for their food; for example Italy is known as the home of Pizza while people associate pineapples with Hawaii, but chimichurri is Argentina's food export to the world. The standard chimichurri recipe involves different amounts of garlic and parsley with spices, lemon, and occasionally tomato, but it is the garlic that is the heard of the sauce. It is usually used on beef and fish but it is also a great marinade for chicken and prawns.

Like most well-known cuisines, the exact birthplace of the chimichurri recipe is hard to pin down, but there is much greater debate over the name. Some people say that the sauce was invented by an Irishman named Jimmy McCurry during the revolution of the early 1800's. The story goes that McCurry was a great supporter of General Belgrano and he not only fought alongside the General and he also cooked for them, and thus the first chimichurri recipe was ever made. Jimmy McCurry is a hard name for the native Spanish tongue so the locals called him chimichurri and the name was transferred over to the dish. Another story states that an English meat importer either named Jimmy Curry or James C Hurray having invented the popular sauce.
However, the most likely invention of the chimichurri is told by the chef Miguel Brasco. He claims that the word chimichurri is the corruption of the phrase "che mi curry" which translated to give me curry. It was most likely used during the period in history when the English were captured after trying to invade Argentina. The prisoners said "che mi curry" when they wanted a sauce for their food and over time the phrase was used as the name of the sauce invented there.
It is a very versatile sauce that can also be used as a marinade but is most often used as a beef sauce.
So the next time you have a barbeque why not make it an Asado (Argentinean barbeque where beef, chicken, and fish are cooked side by side) and serve some chimichurri sauce. The chimichurri recipe can be created in many different ways and there are recipes all over the internet to help you to create one that you and your family and friends will love.

The Elegant Art Of French Cooking

The Elegant Art Of French Cooking

The Elegant Art Of French Cooking

The Elegant Art Of French Cooking

French people have always been identified with refinement and elegance in their style and sophistication that is subtle and distinct; French cooking is no different from this world-recognized thought either.
The best chefs in the world are considered to be French as they look upon creating food as an art and aim to provide nothing less than a masterpiece that should come out of their kitchen doors. Thus, French chefs, famed for creating gastronomical delights with their varied styles and techniques, each school differing in the methods of preparing food depending on which of 26 French regions they belong to, are regarded as the top teachers of the influences of European cuisine. All French Cooking schools follow the regulated norms and standard recipes of traditional cooking styles, albeit with their own distinct innovations to teach lovers of French cuisine the art of French cooking fundamentals, particularly European fare.
Their approach to food is part of their love for feasting, sharing food and cooking with fresh (in season) vegetables, fruit and dairy products, which the French believe is the reason food tastes are enhanced while also being a healthy, natural option to using canned or dried foodstuff. Spread across the different regions in France are provinces known for the specialty ingredients they grow and these, determined by season, give the basic components of nutritious and wholesome French cooking its unique flavor and presentation value.
Thus, you can have veggie and fruit salads a-plenty during summer months, more of abundantly grown mushrooms for autumnal cooking from country kitchens that make great stew-dishes and deer meat during the hunting season that begins in September and ends February. Once spring is in the air, French cooking menus are generously over-loaded with oysters, easily available at bistros and markets too as well as the peasant's table.
The different regions in France contribute to the flavors in French cooking; for example, Alsace, near Germany, is famous for its raisin cakes, sausages, salted pork, and high quality potatoes that are the basics for a hearty meal at all times, while the Alps brings in many different flavors of cheese. France's Artois-Picardy northern heights provide for a fine variety of fish and terrine dishes and the Cote d Azure and Provence regions grant this world-loved cuisine the base for bouillabaisse (stew of fish, tomatoes and herbs, intended as an appetizer).
Ample fruit cultivation allows Britanny its famed crepes; and cakes such as the flat, crunchy galletes and soft dumplings while exotica like Snails are given by Burgundy as its southwest provinces strive to provide continental cuisine pate foie gras - a delicately flavored main course containing liver from force-fed ducks.
Of course, consulting French cookbooks may appear to present French cooking as less than easy, but it's something even the uninitiated with a love for classy cooking can learn, besides of course the novelty value of learning unpronounceable names of dishes on any French bistro menu.
